The Opportunity
If you are an experienced climbing arborist who takes pride in skilled tree care, safe working practices and professional standards, this opportunity offers the chance to put your experience to work with an established arboricultural team in New Zealand.
We are seeking a capable Climbing Arborist with proven climbing experience and a strong understanding of both aerial and ground-based arboricultural work. The position provides varied projects across residential, commercial, council, utility and land-clearance environments, giving you the opportunity to work with different trees, equipment and site conditions.
This role is suited to candidates who can demonstrate genuine industry experience, appropriate qualifications and a commitment to working safely and professionally. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out professional tree climbing and arboricultural operations
- Complete tree pruning, removal and maintenance work in accordance with project requirements
- Perform ground-based arboricultural duties and support climbing operations
- Safely operate chainsaws, climbing systems and relevant arboricultural equipment
- Work at height while following established safety procedures and industry practices
- Contribute to residential, commercial, council, utility and land-clearance projects
- Inspect trees and identify appropriate maintenance or management requirements
- Maintain high standards of workmanship across all assigned projects
- Work cooperatively with arborists, ground crew and other site personnel
- Prepare and maintain climbing equipment, tools, machinery and safety gear
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
- Participate in safety meetings, refresher training and professional development
- Represent the business professionally when working on client sites
- Adapt to different outdoor environments and project requirements
- Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum Level 3 NZQA Arboriculture qualification or equivalent recognised experience
- At least 2 years of professional climbing experience
- Demonstrated competency in climbing and ground-based arboricultural duties
- Class 1 Driver Licence, Restricted or higher
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors and at height
- Positive attitude and dependable work ethic
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Professional approach to clients, colleagues and workplace responsibilities
- Genuine interest in arboriculture and high-quality tree management
- Level 3 Utility Arboriculture qualification is advantageous
- Class 2 Driver Licence is advantageous
- Relevant overseas arboriculture qualifications may be considered subject to assessment
- Applicants must be able to provide evidence of their qualifications and relevant industry experience
