Automatic Transmission Technician / Rebuilder

Build your career with a leading New Zealand automotive specialist in a full-time permanent position. We are seeking an experienced Automatic Transmission Technician / Rebuilder to join a modern, well-equipped workshop in the Northland region.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled automotive professionals who have experience in automatic transmission diagnostics, rebuilding, repairs and general mechanical work. You'll work on a diverse range of passenger vehicles, 4WDs and light commercial vehicles while enjoying ongoing specialist training, career development and a supportive team environment.

• Diagnose automatic transmission faults using advanced diagnostic equipment
• Remove and refit automatic transmissions
• Disassemble, inspect and rebuild automatic transmissions
• Replace and install torque converters
• Diagnose, repair and upgrade valve bodies
• Carry out transmission servicing and repairs
• Perform general automotive diagnostics and mechanical repairs
• Conduct road testing and quality control inspections
• Prepare repair estimates and maintain accurate repair documentation
• Maintain high workshop safety, quality and customer service standards
• Work collaboratively while managing tasks independently when required
• Keep up to date with modern transmission technologies and repair methods

• Proven experience rebuilding automatic transmissions or diagnosing and repairing transmission faults
• Strong automotive diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Experience removing and refitting engines and/or transmissions
• Recognised automotive trade qualification
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop specialist skills
• Ability to relocate to the Northland region, New Zealand
• Meet New Zealand Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) requirements if visa sponsorship is required
• Suitable qualifications and relevant industry experience
• Valid driver's licence is advantageous
