Automation Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Automation Specialist to join a highly automated, world-class manufacturing and logistics facility in Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are passionate about automation, robotics, and technology and want to build a long-term career in a modern production environment.

Working a structured 12-hour day shift roster, you will play a key role in supporting automated systems, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous improvement. You will work alongside experienced technical professionals while developing expertise across automation, software systems, mechanical and electrical processes, and warehouse operations.

• Monitor and support the daily operation of automated systems to ensure maximum uptime
• Communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, IT, and automation teams
• Learn and understand end-to-end automation, production, and warehouse processes
• Diagnose automation faults and assist with troubleshooting and incident resolution
• Coordinate and support major system incident management when required
• Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor automation system performance and identify operational trends
• Prepare and interpret system performance reports and machine data
• Analyse historical automation data to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
• Support automation equipment suppliers with testing information, system logs, and technical data
• Work with software platforms including SAP, automation control systems, and related applications
• Interpret technical documentation, machine information, and system reports
• Ensure automation processes comply with workplace health and safety requirements
• Provide day-to-day leadership and support to on-floor operational staff
• Coordinate daily tasks, monitor performance, and assist with return-to-work processes
• Maintain accurate records and communicate system updates to relevant stakeholders
• Support business improvement initiatives across automation and logistics operations
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused workplace culture

• Technical qualification in Automation, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, IT, Electrical, Mechanical or a related trade preferred
• Experience or strong interest in automation, robotics, manufacturing, or warehouse systems
• Good understanding of automated production or logistics environments is advantageous
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Experience using ERP or automation software such as SAP or similar systems is beneficial
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, machine data, log files, and system reports
• Knowledge of warehouse automation and workplace safety practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise competing tasks
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour day shift roster
