Blaster / Painter

• Carry out abrasive blasting and surface preparation in accordance with project specifications
• Achieve Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 blasting standards where required
• Prepare substrates before painting and coating applications
• Apply industrial primers, epoxies and polyurethane coatings
• Use conventional and airless spray equipment safely and effectively
• Measure and control coating thickness using appropriate gauges
• Apply stripe coats and complete multi-stage coating systems
• Adjust spraying techniques to suit different surfaces and working conditions
• Follow coating procedures, quality requirements and inspection processes
• Complete routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and tools
• Identify and troubleshoot basic issues with blasting and painting equipment
• Maintain blast room equipment and work areas
• Assist with loading and unloading blasting trolleys
• Maintain safe and efficient workshop practices

• At least 3 years of industrial blasting and painting experience
• Demonstrated experience working in an industrial workshop environment
• Knowledge of recognised surface preparation and blasting standards
• Experience with Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 blasting requirements
• Strong knowledge of protective industrial coating products
• Experience using zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethane coatings
• Competency using airless and conventional spray equipment
• Ability to work accurately to specified dry film thicknesses
• Understanding of QA/QC requirements for industrial coating work
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• Ability to work long shifts, including weekend work when required
• Forklift ticket is advantageous
• Gantry or overhead crane experience is advantageous
