Job Description
The Opportunity
An established hospitality operation in Western Australia is seeking a capable and motivated Cook/Chef to help deliver an enjoyable dining experience through quality fusion cuisine.
The successful candidate will combine strong culinary skills with efficient kitchen management, preparing a varied breakfast, lunch and dinner menu while maintaining excellent standards of flavour, presentation, freshness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of fusion-style dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner service
- Complete daily kitchen preparation and ensure all required ingredients and equipment are ready
- Follow established recipes and adjust preparation methods when appropriate
- Maintain consistent food quality, flavour and presentation
- Manage cooking times to ensure dishes are completed promptly during service
- Coordinate kitchen duties and allocate tasks to other kitchen staff
- Support and supervise Cooks during busy service periods
- Work closely with front-of-house staff regarding specials, menu items and customer requirements
- Prepare modified meals to accommodate reasonable dietary preferences and requests
- Monitor ingredient quality, freshness and storage conditions
- Maintain stock levels and communicate purchasing requirements
- Assist with ordering and receiving kitchen supplies
- Remove expired, damaged or unsuitable food products
- Maintain clean, organised and hygienic work areas
- Use commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Follow applicable food safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant professional experience as a Chef or Cook
- At least 2 years of kitchen experience
- Previous experience in a fusion-style kitchen is highly desirable
- Strong practical cooking skills across a varied menu
- Experience using commercial ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
- Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure
- Good understanding of food hygiene and sanitation standards
- Ability to maintain consistent quality during busy service periods
- Valid Australian work rights or eligibility for sponsorship
- Commitment to working in Western Australia
