The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for 2 skilled Chefs/Cooks to join a professional hospitality team in the Australian Capital Territory. This role is suited to experienced culinary professionals who can demonstrate genuine commercial kitchen experience, strong technical ability and a consistent commitment to quality.
The focus is not simply on filling a kitchen position. Candidates will be assessed on their verified qualifications, practical cooking experience and ability to perform confidently in a professional fine-dining environment. The successful applicants will work alongside an established kitchen team preparing European and modern Australian cuisine to a high presentation standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook European and modern Australian cuisine to fine-dining standards
- Demonstrate practical capability across professional kitchen operations
- Take ownership of an allocated kitchen section during service
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion standards
- Complete preparation and cooking tasks efficiently during busy service periods
- Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain smooth and timely food service
- Monitor ingredient usage and minimise unnecessary food wastage
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and food safety
- Follow recipes, preparation procedures and workplace food safety requirements
- Assist with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations where required
- Maintain consistent performance across evening, weekend and split-shift services
- Contribute positively to a professional and team-focused kitchen environment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade-qualified Chef or Cook
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional cooking experience
- Demonstrated experience in European or modern Australian fine-dining cuisine
- Previous Chef de Partie or equivalent section-level experience is highly regarded
- Verifiable qualifications and genuine employment experience
- Strong all-round culinary skills and practical kitchen knowledge
- Ability to consistently produce well-presented, high-quality dishes
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures
- Ability to manage food preparation while keeping wastage under control
- Ability to work effectively within a professional kitchen team
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and split shifts
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate that their qualifications and professional experience can be verified
