The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Chef to join a well-established restaurant in Queensland, Australia. This full-time permanent position is ideal for a motivated culinary professional who is passionate about preparing high-quality Asian-inspired cuisine while working in a supportive and fast-paced kitchen environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in food preparation, menu development, kitchen operations, and maintaining exceptional food quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with recipes and presentation standards
- Assist with menu planning, recipe development and seasonal menu updates
- Maintain consistency in food quality, taste and portion control
- Monitor food preparation to ensure high standards are maintained
- Manage stock rotation, inventory and ordering requirements
- Minimise food waste through effective stock and kitchen management
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff during busy service periods
- Support and assist with the training of junior kitchen team members
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of kitchen operations and customer satisfaction
- Deliver excellent food quality and service standards at all times
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Experience preparing Asian cuisine is highly regarded but not essential
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
