Chef

A new Mexican dining concept is preparing to launch in Queensland and is looking for an experienced Chef to become part of its opening kitchen team.

This is an opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to take an active role in establishing kitchen standards, delivering consistent food quality and supporting the development of a high-performing team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute from the early stages of the restaurant and grow alongside the business.

• Prepare and cook Mexican-inspired dishes to a consistently high standard
• Maintain food quality, presentation and portion control throughout service
• Support menu development and introduce ideas for improving dishes
• Coordinate kitchen workflow during preparation and service
• Supervise and support junior kitchen team members
• Train staff in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen procedures
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards
• Monitor ingredients, stock levels and kitchen supplies
• Assist with purchasing and stock management
• Minimise food waste and support effective kitchen cost control
• Maintain an organised, clean and efficient commercial kitchen
• Contribute to the successful opening and ongoing operation of the restaurant

• Relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum 3 years' professional Chef experience
• Strong commercial kitchen experience
• Demonstrated ability to maintain consistent food quality
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to lead and support a kitchen team
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure
• Interest or experience in Mexican cuisine highly regarded
• Willingness to complete required training interstate
