The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Chef to join a well-established hospitality venue in Western Australia. This full-time position offers an excellent work-life balance with a 4-day work week (day shifts only), a supportive team environment, and the opportunity for visa sponsorship for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be passionate about preparing high-quality food, maintaining exceptional kitchen standards, and delivering outstanding dining experiences. This role also involves supporting junior kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting with kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes to a consistently high standard
- Maintain excellent food quality and presentation across all menu items
- Assist with menu planning and food preparation for special events
- Monitor food costs through portion control, stock management, and waste reduction
- Support the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen team members
- Guide junior staff on cooking techniques and food preparation methods
- Ensure special dietary requirements and allergy requests are accurately followed
- Promote healthy food preparation and nutritional awareness
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and safe food handling standards at all times
- Store, preserve, and freeze food according to food safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations
- Contribute to an efficient, organised, and positive kitchen environment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy restaurant, café, hotel, or similar commercial kitchen
- Relevant culinary or cookery qualification is preferred
- Experience preparing Western-style cuisine is preferred
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Senior Sous Chef is highly regarded
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing food costs, labour, equipment, and kitchen waste is advantageous
- Ability to train and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Fluent English communication skills
- Current police clearance, COVID-19 vaccination certificate, and first aid certificate are preferred
- Must be willing to undergo random drug testing
- A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
