The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker to join a well-established equipment and maintenance operation in [State], Australia.
This role is suited to a hands-on tradesperson who enjoys diagnosing equipment faults, carrying out complex repairs and keeping heavy machinery operating safely and efficiently. You will work across a combination of workshop, local and regional environments, supporting customers with mobile and fixed crushing, screening and processing equipment.
The position provides strong exposure to mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems, along with opportunities to work directly with customers and a broad range of industry equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance on mobile and stationary equipment
- Complete servicing, repairs, pre-delivery inspections and equipment preparation
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and operational faults across crushing and processing equipment
- Interpret hydraulic schematics, technical manuals and OEM service information
- Test hydraulic pressures and flows to accurately identify system faults
- Inspect, repair and maintain hydraulic components and systems
- Diagnose basic 12V and 24V electrical control system faults
- Read electrical schematics and perform voltage and continuity testing
- Attend customer sites to provide equipment servicing, troubleshooting and technical support
- Travel to regional and remote locations when required
- Assess equipment condition and identify required repair and remedial work
- Prepare clear technical reports and service documentation
- Record completed work, equipment settings, checks, measurements and photographic evidence
- Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed in line with OEM specifications and safety procedures
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and provide practical technical solutions
- Contribute to reliable equipment performance and minimise operational downtime
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant post-trade industry experience
- Experience working with quarry, mining or fixed-plant equipment
- Practical experience with crushing, screening or mineral processing machinery is highly regarded
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair capability
- Sound knowledge of hydraulic systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Basic electrical diagnostic capability involving 12V and 24V systems
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, service procedures and OEM documentation
- Full unrestricted Australian C Class Driver Licence or ability to obtain one
- HR and forklift licences are advantageous
- Physically capable of working in demanding workshop and site environments
- Willingness to travel for regional and remote assignments
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical
- Ability to successfully complete drug and alcohol screening
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
- Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively within a technical service team
