We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic who can confidently work across heavy vehicles, diesel systems, hydraulics and electrical fault diagnosis. This opportunity is suited to candidates who can demonstrate genuine industry experience and are ready to build their career in New Zealand through a structured employment pathway.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on diesel engines and heavy vehicles
  • Service diesel-powered vehicles and associated mechanical systems
  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Investigate and repair hydraulic and electrical system faults
  • Use appropriate diagnostic equipment and software to identify technical issues
  • Complete mechanical inspections and assess vehicle condition
  • Carry out repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
  • Record completed work, servicing details and repair information accurately
  • Maintain tools, equipment and workshop areas in a clean and organised condition
  • Follow established workplace health and safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues while communicating technical issues clearly
  • Perform mechanical duties in both workshop and outdoor environments when required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of genuine experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles
  • Relevant mechanical qualification and/or substantial demonstrated industry experience
  • Full Class 1 driver's licence or equivalent
  • Class 4 licence is an advantage
  • Demonstrable fault-finding ability across diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Practical experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment and software
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Professional approach to safety, workmanship and workplace responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain accurate service documentation and records
  • Physically capable of performing workshop and outdoor mechanical duties
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice (MOJ) check
  • Accurate and verifiable employment, qualification and identity documentation
