Drainage Operators & Drainlayer

Opportunities are available across drainage and civil construction for Drainlayers, Drainage Operators, Drainage Labourers, 20T Excavator Operators and Multi-Skilled Operators with Class 4.

The work covers a broad range of infrastructure projects, giving experienced candidates the opportunity to put their skills to work across drainage, earthworks, utilities, wastewater, stormwater, roading and general civil construction.

• Install stormwater and sewer pipelines
• Complete pressure and gravity drainage infrastructure installations
• Work on wastewater pump stations and treatment systems
• Install water treatment and associated infrastructure
• Operate 20T excavators safely and efficiently
• Carry out excavation, trenching, backfilling and general civil works
• Operate loaders, compactors and other construction machinery
• Undertake PE welding where required
• Perform confined-space work in accordance with site procedures
• Assist with telecommunications and power utility installations
• Complete concrete and associated civil construction works
• Undertake occasional landscaping and site reinstatement
• Read and work from project requirements and specifications
• Maintain accurate and efficient work practices on site
• Identify construction challenges and contribute to practical solutions
• Follow all health, safety and environmental requirements
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and other members of the construction team
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity and site presentation

• Demonstrated experience in civil construction, drainage or a related industry
• Relevant hands-on experience as a Drainlayer, Drainage Operator, Excavator Operator or Drainage Labourer
• Proven ability to safely operate relevant construction machinery
• Current and clean Class 2 driver's licence
• Class 4 licence advantageous for multi-skilled operator positions
• WTR endorsement advantageous
• Experience operating excavators, loaders, compactors or additional machinery advantageous
• Strong practical understanding of construction site procedures
• Reliable, adaptable and willing to take on varied responsibilities
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Good problem-solving and forward-thinking approach
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to maintain quality and productivity across different projects
• Willingness to relocate to Otago, New Zealand
