The Opportunity
Take the lead in a senior hospitality management position where your experience, leadership and operational judgement will make a direct impact on venue performance.
We are seeking a capable Duty Manager to oversee the smooth running of a busy licensed hospitality venue in the Northern Territory. You will be responsible for leading teams across food and beverage, gaming and functions while acting as the key operational decision-maker during your rostered shifts.
This position is suited to an experienced hospitality supervisor or manager who is comfortable working in a high-volume environment, managing people, maintaining compliance and responding confidently to customer and operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall operational responsibility for the venue during assigned shifts
- Lead and coordinate food and beverage, gaming, functions and customer-service operations
- Supervise employees and provide clear direction, coaching and day-to-day support
- Allocate staff responsibilities and assist with rostering and workforce planning
- Support employee development, performance management and workplace training
- Maintain compliance with liquor licensing, gaming, responsible gambling, food safety and workplace safety requirements
- Manage venue opening and closing processes and maintain effective security controls
- Oversee cash handling, tills, floats, safe balances, gaming transactions and shift reconciliations
- Monitor responsible gambling and harm-minimisation practices
- Respond professionally to customer complaints, disputes and challenging situations
- Manage security, behavioural and operational incidents as they arise
- Coordinate functions, entertainment and promotional activities
- Monitor stock, cleanliness, venue presentation, equipment and maintenance needs
- Complete shift reports, incident documentation and other operational records
- Identify opportunities to improve service standards, team performance and venue operations
- Ensure company policies and operational procedures are consistently implemented
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant Diploma-level qualification or equivalent with at least one year of relevant full-time-equivalent experience
- Alternatively, a minimum of three years' relevant full-time-equivalent experience in licensed-club, hotel or hospitality management
- Previous experience supervising staff within a busy licensed hospitality environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of licensed venue and gaming operations
- Strong experience in cash management, financial reconciliation and venue security
- Confident people-management and leadership abilities
- Strong customer-service and conflict-resolution skills
- Good written communication and reporting capabilities
- Current NT Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
- Current Responsible Service of Gambling training or willingness to obtain the required certification
- NT Gaming Machine Manager licence preferred, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one
- Ability to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Ability to meet applicable licensing, probity and right-to-work requirements
- Overseas applicants must satisfy relevant qualification, experience, English-language and visa requirements
