Electrical Linesman and crane/borer oprator
Job Description
The Opportunity
Take your overhead powerline experience into a structured Australian career with an established electrical infrastructure contractor in New South Wales.
Opportunities are available for Distribution Linesmen, Crane Borer Operators, Transmission Linesmen and Transmission Trade Assistants. The work covers major overhead electrical infrastructure projects across distribution and transmission networks.
For candidates with overseas experience, your existing skills and qualifications can be assessed for Australian requirements, with training support available where additional recognition or conversion is needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, dress and stand overhead distribution poles
- Carry out pole replacement and associated line construction work
- String overhead mains and conductors
- Work across urban and rural electrical distribution projects
- Construct and erect transmission poles and H structures
- Assist with transmission tower erection
- Climb poles, towers and transmission structures
- Carry out conductor stringing activities
- Interpret drawings, network diagrams and maps
- Conduct maintenance inspections of transmission networks
- Operate crane/boring equipment where appropriately qualified
- Identify and resolve construction and workplace issues
- Complete ancillary linework and related tasks
- Follow company HSE, quality and client requirements
- Work safely around electrical infrastructure and heavy equipment
- Travel to project locations and complete occasional away work
- Work overtime when required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant experience in electrical distribution or transmission linework
- Experience operating plant or crane/boring equipment for relevant positions
- Construction White Card
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and network documentation
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required
- Certificate III ESI in Transmission and Distribution Overhead is advantageous
- Work at Heights certification is advantageous
- CPR certification is advantageous
- Dogging certification is advantageous
- Rigging certification is advantageous
- High Risk Work Licence is advantageous
- Relevant overseas qualifications and experience will be considered
- Willingness to complete Australian-recognised training where required
