Equipment Technician/ Diesel Mechanic

An exciting opportunity is available for a capable Diesel Mechanic / Equipment Technician to join a highly skilled heavy machinery team in New Zealand. 

This role is suited to a hands-on technician who enjoys diagnosing faults, maintaining heavy equipment and solving challenging mechanical problems. Experience with construction or forestry machinery will be highly regarded.

• Service and maintain heavy plant and equipment
• Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment failures
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance
• Repair and replace faulty mechanical components
• Investigate complex equipment issues and determine appropriate solutions
• Conduct inspections and equipment assessments
• Use technical information and diagnostic tools to identify faults
• Complete scheduled servicing and maintenance tasks
• Ensure repairs meet required quality and safety standards
• Maintain workshop and equipment records
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Follow all company health and safety requirements

• Relevant Heavy Plant and Equipment qualification at NZQA Level 4 or equivalent
• Relevant experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician
• Strong practical mechanical skills
• Experience with construction, forestry or heavy machinery preferred
• Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities
• Strong technical and analytical thinking
• Ability to interpret technical information
• Basic to strong computer literacy
• Reliable, self-motivated and hands-on approach
• Commitment to workplace health and safety
• Good communication and customer service skills
