A well-established agricultural machinery business in New Zealand is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join its experienced technical team.
This opportunity is suited to a qualified diesel or heavy machinery technician who can demonstrate genuine hands-on capability in diagnosing, servicing and repairing agricultural equipment. Your practical experience and technical knowledge will be valued as you work directly with customers and help keep essential farm machinery operating reliably.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults across agricultural machinery
- Perform scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on tractors and farm equipment
- Use manufacturer diagnostic systems and specialist equipment to identify technical faults
- Attend customer locations to investigate breakdowns and complete field repairs
- Assess equipment problems methodically and determine practical repair solutions
- Work with modern tractor systems, agricultural electronics and advanced machinery technology
- Service and repair harvesting equipment and other specialised agricultural machinery
- Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship across all completed jobs
- Complete service reports, repair documentation and job records accurately
- Explain technical issues and repair requirements clearly to customers
- Deliver professional and reliable customer service while working independently in the field
- Work closely with other technicians and the wider service team when required
- Participate in technical training to maintain and expand machinery knowledge
- Respond to breakdowns and participate in the on-call service roster
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Automotive Engineering or Heavy Machinery
- NZQF Level 4 qualification or higher, or a comparable overseas qualification
- Demonstrated hands-on experience servicing agricultural tractors or heavy machinery
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding capability
- Practical experience using electronic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Knowledge of modern agricultural machinery and tractor systems
- Field service experience is highly desirable
- Experience with forage harvesters will be considered an advantage
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues professionally
- Ability to work independently while managing field-based service responsibilities
- Reliable, mature and safety-conscious approach to technical work
- Commitment to continuous technical learning and development
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster
