Job Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Food Safety & Brand Standard Specialists to provide onsite evaluation, training, and consulting services for foodservice and hospitality businesses across Canterbury, New Zealand.
This contract/freelance opportunity is ideal for a registered business or sole trader with strong food safety expertise and consulting experience. You will work with customers to improve food safety standards, workplace health and safety practices, cleanliness, guest experience, and brand protection through professional audits, coaching, and training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct food safety, brand standard, and workplace health and safety evaluations at customer locations
- Provide consulting, coaching, and training on food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and quality standards
- Support hospitality and foodservice customers in maintaining compliance and operational excellence
- Work closely with account management teams to address customer food safety requirements
- Complete scheduled audits and assessments while meeting customer expectations
- Prepare accurate reports and provide professional customer communication
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders
- Identify improvement opportunities and provide practical recommendations
- Manage schedules independently while delivering high-quality service outcomes
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Must be a registered business or sole trader with valid insurance coverage
- Previous experience in food safety, hospitality, foodservice, quality assurance, or related industries
- Experience delivering food safety training, coaching, or education programs
- Strong consulting, communication, and relationship management skills
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Ideally hold Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in food service, hospitality, environmental health, or related field preferred
- Relevant associate degree with foodservice or hospitality industry experience considered
- Ability to operate in a flexible and autonomous working environment
