The Opportunity
A leading heavy equipment and machinery provider in Western Australia is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic to join its New Equipment Assembly team on a full-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to work with the latest mining and construction machinery, assembling, testing, and preparing equipment to meet industry-leading quality and performance standards.
The successful candidate will work within a highly skilled workshop team, contributing to the delivery of new machinery solutions for the mining and heavy equipment sectors. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance may be available for suitable candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and commission new heavy machinery and equipment
- Conduct testing and quality inspections to ensure performance standards are achieved
- Perform custom installations and modifications according to manufacturer specifications
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults during assembly and testing processes
- Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and service information
- Maintain high standards of workplace safety and housekeeping
- Collaborate with workshop personnel to ensure projects are completed efficiently
- Accurately complete service records and required documentation
- Work with a variety of mining, construction, agricultural, and heavy vehicle equipment
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop environment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification as a Plant Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent
- Minimum relevant industry experience working with heavy machinery or mobile equipment
- Experience within mining, construction, agriculture, transport, or equipment hire industries preferred
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and workshop manuals
- Experience with Caterpillar equipment highly regarded but not essential
- Commitment to workplace health and safety standards
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies, equipment, and work methods
