Joinery Detailer/ Project Manager

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Joinery Designer / Detailer to join a well-established custom joinery business in the Otago Region, New Zealand. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering excellent career stability, competitive pay, and the opportunity to work on premium residential and commercial joinery projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, detailing, and coordinating bespoke joinery projects from concept through to production, working closely with customers, architects, designers, builders, and the internal production team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and technical documentation
- Prepare detailed joinery drawings using Microvellum software
- Generate workshop drawings, cutting lists, and material reports
- Coordinate projects from design through to manufacturing
- Liaise with clients, architects, designers, builders, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Monitor project progress and resolve design or production issues
- Ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and workmanship
- Communicate effectively with the management and production teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and efficient workflow processes
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification in Joinery, Cabinet Making, or a related field, or at least 3 years of relevant joinery experience
- Minimum of kitchen cabinetry or bespoke joinery experience
- Proven experience using Microvellum woodworking software
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent project planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Positive attitude with excellent time management skills
