Maintenance Fitter

This permanent opportunity with an established FMCG manufacturing operation is suited to an experienced mechanical maintenance professional who understands the demands of a high-volume production environment.

The role is about more than responding when machinery breaks down. You will be involved in preventative maintenance, mechanical fault diagnosis, equipment reliability and ongoing improvements that help keep production running efficiently.

We are looking for candidates with genuine trade qualifications and hands-on industry experience. Candidate credentials, qualifications and experience will be assessed as part of the recruitment process, helping connect the right technical professional with the right long-term opportunity.

• Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance across production machinery and fixed plant
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment to safe operating condition
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify the underlying cause of equipment failures
• Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
• Inspect machinery and identify potential mechanical issues before breakdowns occur
• Support production teams by reducing unplanned downtime
• Complete machinery changeovers and assist with equipment upgrades
• Contribute to reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate maintenance reports and service records
• Work closely with production and maintenance personnel to maintain equipment performance
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements and site procedures
• Comply with relevant food manufacturing and hygiene standards
• Promote safe, reliable and efficient maintenance practices

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent
• Proven experience working as a Maintenance Fitter
• Previous FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production experience
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
• Experience working with automated production machinery and fixed plant
• Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
• Ability to diagnose problems and implement effective mechanical solutions
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness and ability to work rotating day and afternoon shifts
• Genuine hands-on mechanical maintenance experience
