Maintenance Fitter

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Fitter with specialist thermoforming experience to join an established food manufacturing operation in Western Australia.

This opportunity is suited to someone who does more than general maintenance. We are seeking a technician who understands how thermoforming and automated packaging equipment should operate, can identify faults quickly, and has the practical experience to keep complex production systems running reliably.

Experience with MULTIVAC thermoforming equipment will be highly regarded, particularly for candidates who can demonstrate genuine hands-on experience with forming, heating, sealing, vacuum, cutting and automated packaging systems.

• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance across thermoforming and packaging equipment
• Identify mechanical faults and restore equipment to reliable operating condition
• Diagnose issues affecting thermoforming, sealing, heating and vacuum systems
• Maintain forming stations, heating plates and sealing stations
• Troubleshoot pneumatic and compressed air systems
• Work with servo-driven machinery and automated production equipment
• Maintain film feed, tension control and packaging systems
• Support vacuum packaging and MAP equipment
• Complete tooling changes and assist with machine optimisation
• Perform production line changeovers and equipment adjustments
• Investigate recurring machinery failures and identify root causes
• Implement maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability
• Work with production and engineering teams to reduce downtime
• Assist with installation, setup and commissioning of new machinery
• Respond efficiently to production breakdowns and urgent maintenance requirements
• Maintain accurate and safe maintenance practices in accordance with workplace procedures

• Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in manufacturing, food processing, packaging or a similar production environment
• Proven practical experience maintaining thermoforming machinery
• Strong understanding of thermoforming processes and equipment
• MULTIVAC experience highly regarded
• Experience with MULTIVAC R-Series thermoformers advantageous
• Knowledge of vacuum packaging and automated packaging equipment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Understanding of heating, forming, sealing, cutting and punching systems
• Ability to work confidently with high-speed production machinery
• Strong preventative maintenance knowledge
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to breakdowns
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to work rotating early and afternoon shifts
