The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to join a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in the Wellington Region, New Zealand. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, healthcare, education, hospitality, government, residential, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical building services solutions from concept design through to project completion while collaborating with experienced engineers and project teams. Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical (HVAC) engineering design for building services projects
- Prepare technical designs, specifications, calculations, and documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery
- Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Conduct construction monitoring and site inspections as required
- Develop practical and efficient engineering solutions for complex projects
- Manage assigned projects from concept through completion
- Maintain project quality, budgets, and delivery schedules
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Attend design meetings and provide technical advice during project delivery
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to business growth
- Ensure compliance with relevant New Zealand engineering codes and regulations
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer within building services
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience in HVAC system design for commercial and institutional buildings
- Knowledge of mechanical building services standards and engineering practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes
