The Opportunity
Take your metal fabrication career to the next level with a permanent opportunity in Western Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator or Boilermaker who can demonstrate genuine structural steel fabrication and welding capability. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of an established construction team on a variety of structural steel projects, with the support of professional equipment and a safety-focused work environment.
For suitably qualified candidates who do not currently hold Australian work rights, skilled visa sponsorship is available, subject to eligibility.
This opportunity is particularly suited to tradespeople who have strong hands-on experience, recognised qualifications and the ability to demonstrate their technical skills in a professional Australian workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret structural drawings, specifications and work instructions to plan fabrication activities
- Measure and mark steel sections and plates accurately before fabrication
- Prepare materials, tools and equipment for on-site fabrication and modification work
- Cut structural steel using flame cutters, grinders and other appropriate equipment
- Straighten, bend, form and shape steel components to required specifications
- Assemble structural steel components using bolting and welding methods
- Position steel components safely for fabrication and welding
- Work with cranes, hoists and rigging crews when positioning and assembling steelwork
- Complete tack welding to achieve accurate component alignment
- Carry out structural welding using MMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes
- Use GTAW welding where required for specific fabrication work
- Modify existing structural steelwork through cutting, drilling, welding and fitting
- Fabricate and install brackets, cleats, connections and other steel components
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures across active construction sites
- Maintain quality, accuracy and safe work standards throughout each project
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification in metal fabrication, boilermaking or equivalent
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (MEM30319) or an equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
- At least 3 years of relevant post-trade experience
- Demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication and welding
- Competency in MMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding processes
- Ability to interpret structural engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Current Construction Induction (White Card)
- Current Working at Heights certification
- Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work in active construction environments
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Current driver's licence
- Reliable transport
- Australian work rights or eligibility for skilled visa sponsorship under the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482)
- Willingness and ability to work full-time according to project requirements
