Motor Mechanic

Are you an experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic who can demonstrate genuine hands-on capability, sound technical knowledge and a strong commitment to vehicle safety?

An established automotive operation in Western Australia is seeking a reliable and skilled mechanic to join its team. The role is suited to candidates who can confidently diagnose faults, complete repairs to a high standard and take responsibility for keeping vehicles safe, reliable and ready for service.

This is initially a 6-month contract, with the flexibility to work either full-time or part-time. For the right person, there is an opportunity to progress into a permanent position.

• Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic procedures
• Assess vehicle performance and identify the cause of mechanical issues
• Carry out repairs across engines, transmissions, steering, braking, air-conditioning and wheel alignment systems
• Complete scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer service requirements
• Inspect and repair vehicles affected by accidents or other damage
• Conduct roadworthiness and safety inspections to ensure vehicles meet relevant state requirements
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of servicing, inspections, repairs and maintenance
• Work closely with the vehicle operations team to keep vehicles available and ready for customer bookings
• Identify parts and components requiring replacement and assist with spare-parts inventory management
• Maintain an organised, clean and WorkSafe-compliant workshop
• Communicate technical findings, repair recommendations and estimated costs to management
• Demonstrate consistent attention to safety, quality and workmanship
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of a professional team

• Trade-qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional motor mechanic experience
• Demonstrated hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing light vehicles
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills
• IELTS Band 6 or higher preferred
• Current and valid driver's licence
• Ability to accurately inspect mechanical and electronic vehicle systems
• Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain accurate service and repair documentation
• Ability to communicate technical issues and proposed solutions clearly to management
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and vehicle roadworthiness
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
