The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a major underground hard rock mining operation in Ontario, Canada. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee all aspects of site operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of underground mining activities while managing financial performance, client relationships, operational excellence, and workforce development. This role is ideal for an experienced mining professional looking to expand their international leadership career.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible leadership to promote a strong safety culture across the operation
- Lead all underground mining activities including development and production
- Deliver operational targets safely, efficiently and within budget
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost control and financial performance
- Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage mining equipment and operational resources to maximise productivity
- Build, mentor and develop high-performing leadership and site teams
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment and succession planning
- Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and collaboration
- Identify operational risks and implement practical mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with relevant mining legislation, company policies and safety systems
- Manage contractual administration, reporting and performance monitoring
- Drive operational excellence across safety, productivity and quality standards
- Support a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork and continuous improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Extensive experience in underground hard rock mining operations
- Previous experience in a senior mining site leadership or project management role
- Mining Engineering qualification or other relevant tertiary qualification
- Strong experience managing underground mining contracts and client relationships
- Proven budgeting, financial management and commercial decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of underground mining safety systems and compliance requirements
- Ability to relocate internationally
- Experience in both underground development and production environments
- Project management and operational reporting experience
- Previous international mining leadership experience will be highly regarded
- Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
- Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
- Experience with mining management software will be advantageous
