Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver high-quality dishes while following established recipes and presentation standards
- Take responsibility for daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service delivery
- Manage food preparation processes, ingredient ordering and stock rotation
- Maintain strong food safety, hygiene and workplace compliance standards
- Support, train and guide junior kitchen team members to improve performance
- Review food quality, portion control and consistency before service
- Monitor kitchen costs and assist with efficient resource management
- Work closely with the wider hospitality team to enhance customer dining experiences
- Contribute ideas for menu improvements, seasonal specials and new food concepts
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment
- Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and operational at all times
- Demonstrate leadership, reliability and a commitment to culinary excellence
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified chef with formal culinary training or recognised hospitality certification
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional restaurant or commercial kitchen experience
- Proven ability to prepare a variety of cuisines and cooking styles
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene requirements
- Experience leading or supporting a kitchen team in a busy hospitality environment
- Ability to maintain quality standards while working under pressure
- Good communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and consistency
- Creative mindset with an interest in improving menus and food offerings
- Experience with food costing, inventory control or kitchen systems is advantageous
- Must demonstrate verified skills, relevant experience and suitability for a New Zealand hospitality role
