Restaurant Manager

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to take ownership of front-of-house operations at an established hospitality venue in Christchurch, New Zealand. This opportunity is suited to a hospitality professional who can demonstrate genuine management experience, confidently lead a diverse team and maintain high standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Rather than simply offering a sponsored position, this role provides a structured pathway for experienced hospitality professionals whose background and capabilities can be verified and aligned with the requirements of the position.

You will work closely with senior management to lead the FOH team, strengthen operational consistency, improve guest experiences and contribute to business performance.

• Take responsibility for daily front-of-house operations
• Lead, coach and develop local and international hospitality team members
• Set clear expectations and maintain consistent service standards
• Train staff on operational procedures, customer service and venue expectations
• Oversee opening and closing procedures
• Manage accurate cash-up and end-of-shift processes
• Coordinate reservations and booking procedures
• Control guest flow during busy and multi-sitting services
• Assist with staff rostering and workforce planning
• Communicate openly and effectively with senior management
• Monitor service performance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business
• Support initiatives designed to improve revenue and operational performance
• Maintain a professional and positive team culture
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements and relevant regulations
• Maintain consistent standards across service and guest interactions
• Respond confidently to operational challenges and resolve issues efficiently
• Work collaboratively with management to achieve business objectives

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Restaurant Manager or comparable hospitality leadership role
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a hospitality team
• Strong understanding of fast-paced, high-volume restaurant operations
• Proven customer service and team leadership capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional and mature approach to staff management
• Strong understanding of hospitality procedures and service standards
• Knowledge of liquor service and licensing compliance
• Ability to manage guest flow and competing operational priorities
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to remain calm and effective during busy service periods
• Willingness to learn venue-specific products, systems and standards
• Flexible availability for evenings, weekends and peak trading periods
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week across 5 days
