A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Retail Manager to join a well-established supermarket business in South Australia. You will take full responsibility for the daily operation of the store, ensuring high standards across customer service, merchandising, stock control, team performance, and financial outcomes. This role offers excellent career development opportunities within a growing retail business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily supermarket operations and ensure smooth store performance
- Manage store opening and closing procedures
- Recruit, train, mentor and supervise store team members
- Prepare staff rosters and manage workforce scheduling
- Drive sales growth through effective merchandising and promotional activities
- Manage stock ordering, inventory control and supplier relationships
- Monitor stock levels to minimise wastage and out-of-stock situations
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness and visual merchandising
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and food safety regulations
- Monitor labour costs, shrinkage and store expenses against budgets
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally
- Prepare sales reports, budgets and key performance reports for management
- Ensure cash handling, banking and point-of-sale procedures are followed accurately
- Foster a positive, safe and productive workplace culture
- Support continuous improvement across all store operations
Requirements & Eligibility
- Previous experience in a Retail Manager or retail supervisory position
- Supermarket or grocery retail experience is highly regarded
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience with stock control, inventory management and supplier coordination
- Knowledge of staff rostering and labour cost management
- Understanding of profit and loss management and retail performance indicators
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required
- Hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving abilities
- Current driver's licence preferred
