Site Engineer
Job Description
The Opportunity
A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking a capable and experienced Site Engineer to join its expanding project team in ACT.
This opportunity is suited to an engineer who can demonstrate genuine Australian site experience, strong technical understanding and the ability to take ownership of engineering and quality requirements throughout construction.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the delivery of structural concrete and civil infrastructure works, working alongside experienced project managers, supervisors and major construction contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for engineering activities and technical coordination across assigned construction works
- Manage site quality requirements and ensure construction activities comply with approved ITPs and project specifications
- Prepare and maintain inspection records, lot documentation, conformance records and handover documentation
- Monitor hold points, witness points and quality inspections throughout project delivery
- Identify, record and assist with closing out non-conformances and technical issues
- Review structural drawings, specifications and construction documentation before and during site activities
- Prepare RFIs and coordinate technical queries with relevant project stakeholders
- Support construction teams with site setout, reinforcement inspections and concrete pour preparation
- Monitor project progress against construction programs and agreed milestones
- Identify potential program delays and communicate issues to the project management team
- Coordinate materials, plant and construction consumables in line with project requirements
- Attend site inspections, progress meetings and coordination discussions with clients and contractors
- Provide practical engineering guidance to supervisors and construction crews
- Assist with reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality compliance
- Support site teams in maintaining workplace health, safety and environmental requirements
- Maintain accurate project records and engineering documentation
- Work collaboratively with project management, supervision teams, contractors and construction crews
- Contribute to efficient project delivery and successful completion of assigned works
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of Australian experience as a Site Engineer on structural concrete or comparable civil infrastructure projects
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrated understanding of construction quality assurance systems and ITP-based delivery
- Strong ability to interpret structural drawings, engineering specifications and construction documentation
- Practical understanding of site engineering and construction processes
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Experience managing QA records, inspections, NCRs and project documentation
- White Card
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to obtain required ACT site inductions and project access clearances
- Ability to work confidently within active construction environments
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work with multiple project stakeholders
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving site issues
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team
- Bridge and structural infrastructure experience will be highly regarded
- Experience in dams, spillways or water infrastructure will be highly regarded
- Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors will be highly regarded
- Experience managing reinforcement scheduling, ordering, fixing and conformance will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and progress into senior engineering responsibilities
