Job Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join a busy, quality-focused hospitality venue in New South Wales (NSW). This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to work alongside an experienced Head Chef, helping to deliver exceptional dining experiences while leading and developing a high-performing kitchen team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining food quality, supporting daily kitchen operations, and ensuring efficient service in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team during busy service periods
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control
- Assist with ordering, stock management and inventory control
- Monitor food costs and minimise waste
- Train, mentor and support kitchen staff
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace cleanliness standards
- Assist with kitchen rostering, preparation planning and organisation
- Ensure smooth kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house and kitchen teams
- Contribute to menu consistency and continuous kitchen improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Junior Sous Chef
- Experience working in a busy, quality-focused restaurant environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to remain calm and perform well under pressure
- Passion for food, hospitality and delivering high-quality dishes
- Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
- Availability to work weekends and flexible shifts
