Sous Chef

A well-established hospitality venue in Victoria is looking for a capable Sous Chef to join its professional kitchen team. This opportunity is suited to an experienced chef who can demonstrate genuine hands-on capability, leadership, consistency, and the ability to perform in a demanding service environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef, taking an active role in kitchen operations while helping maintain high standards across food preparation, service, team performance, stock management, and menu execution.

• Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen
• Lead and coordinate kitchen staff during busy service periods
• Mentor team members and contribute to a positive kitchen culture
• Prepare and deliver high-quality food consistently
• Maintain presentation and portion-control standards
• Assist with ordering, stock management, and inventory control
• Monitor food costs and minimise unnecessary wastage
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness standards
• Assist with menu planning, development, and seasonal changes
• Ensure preparation and service are organised and efficient
• Respond effectively to high-volume service demands
• Work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams
• Help maintain consistent guest experiences through quality food and service

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef ready to progress into a leadership role
• Demonstrated experience in a high-volume pub, bistro, restaurant, or comparable kitchen
• Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills
• Ability to consistently maintain food quality and presentation
• Experience with stock control, ordering, and food cost management
• Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team
• Ability to remain organised and composed during busy services
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Professional approach with a commitment to reliability and consistency
