Sous Chef

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Sous Chef to join a well-established hospitality venue in New South Wales. This full-time role is ideal for a passionate chef seeking career growth in a professional kitchen with a supportive team environment.

You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality café and event dining while maintaining exceptional food quality, kitchen efficiency, and food safety standards. The venue operates daytime service with occasional functions and events, offering an excellent work-life balance.

• Assist the Head Chef with menu planning and development
• Prepare and present high-quality meals in accordance with recipes and presentation standards
• Support café operations and function catering services
• Modify dishes to accommodate dietary requirements and customer preferences
• Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management
• Minimise food waste through effective kitchen practices
• Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene and cleanliness
• Follow HACCP principles and food safety procedures at all times
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
• Support efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods
• Maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation
• Contribute to a positive and professional team environment

• Diploma of Hospitality or higher qualification
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
• Previous experience working under the supervision of a Head Chef
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures
• Experience with menu planning and food preparation
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Ability to maintain high standards of food quality and consistency
• Willingness to work weekends and additional hours during peak periods
