The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Store Manager to lead a large-scale retail operation in Auckland, New Zealand. This permanent full-time role offers the chance to manage a high-volume retail environment, drive business performance, lead a diverse team, and contribute to the ongoing success of a well-established home improvement business.
The successful candidate will oversee commercial operations, customer experience, team development, financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for an experienced retail leader who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a large multi-department retail leadership team
- Drive commercial performance, profitability, and operational growth strategies
- Manage daily store operations across customer service, merchandising, inventory, and compliance
- Develop and maintain a strong culture of safety, excellence, and team engagement
- Monitor financial performance, budgets, forecasting, and cost control
- Improve operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure effective stock management, inventory control, and merchandising standards
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and community partners
- Identify opportunities for innovation and business improvement
- Support team capability development through coaching and leadership
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and company policies
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven senior retail management experience within a large-format or high-volume retail environment
- Minimum 5 years of relevant senior leadership experience or relevant NZQF Level 5 or higher qualification
- Strong commercial understanding with experience achieving financial and operational targets
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop large diverse teams
- Experience managing merchandising, inventory, forecasting, and retail operations
- Strong knowledge of customer service standards and retail industry practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage complex operations and deliver continuous improvement
- Understanding of New Zealand retail environment and employment practices preferred
