The Opportunity
Make a meaningful difference in the everyday life of a highly motivated tetraplegic client as part of a trusted, established 24/7 support team.
This opportunity is suited to people who bring more than basic care experience. The role requires maturity, reliability, sound judgement and the ability to build trust while supporting an active client with daily routines, personal activities, work and family commitments.
You will become an important member of a coordinated support environment where professionalism, consistency and genuine teamwork are highly valued. Training is provided, making this an opportunity for the right person to develop their skills while contributing to a rewarding support role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respectful and person-centred support throughout daily routines
- Assist with personal care and everyday activities
- Work closely with the existing 24/7 support team
- Support the client with work, family and personal commitments
- Drive and accompany the client when required
- Assist with appointments, activities and scheduled commitments
- Provide companionship and positive social interaction
- Follow established care plans, routines and support instructions
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the client and support team
- Respond calmly and appropriately to changing situations
- Demonstrate initiative when identifying and addressing the client's needs
- Participate in rostered day, evening and overnight shifts
- Complete sleepover shifts as required
- Support the client during travel when required
- Maintain consistency and reliability across assigned shifts
- Participate in training provided by the client and support team
- Contribute to a safe, respectful and positive team environment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Previous experience in disability support, healthcare, personal care or a related field is advantageous
- Minimum NZQA Health and Wellbeing Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards the qualification
- Valid driver's licence is essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Good judgement and practical common sense
- Ability to work independently while remaining an effective team member
- Ability to follow care plans and established procedures
- Ability to adapt to changing routines and client requirements
- Willingness to take a hands-on approach to support
- Strong afternoon and evening availability
- Availability for rostered day and overnight shifts
- Ability to complete sleepover shifts
- Availability for at least two weekend shifts per month
- Ability to commit to approximately 35 hours per week
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training
- Commitment to maintaining the client's dignity, independence and priorities
