Key Responsibilities

  • Support adults with complex needs in a residential care environment
  • Promote independence, dignity, choice, and quality of life
  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with service users
  • Support individuals using person-centred and positive behaviour support approaches
  • Assist individuals to participate in community and social activities
  • Prepare meals and assist with household tasks including cleaning and maintaining a safe home
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and support teams
  • Follow organisational policies, health and safety procedures, and professional standards
  • Work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and sleepover shifts

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum experience supporting people in a residential disability or community support setting
  • Experience working with individuals who have complex behavioural, social, or support needs
  • Knowledge of person-centred care and positive behaviour support practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient, reliable, and resilient approach to supporting others
  • Ability to work flexible shifts in a 24/7 residential environment
  • Current Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Applicants requiring Accredited Employer Work Visa sponsorship must hold a Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification (or equivalent) that meets New Zealand Immigration requirements
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing safe, respectful, and high-quality support services
