The Opportunity

Join a leading healthcare support organisation providing meaningful care services across community, residential and healthcare settings throughout Canterbury, New Zealand.

This role is ideal for compassionate and reliable Support Workers looking for flexible working arrangements, diverse experiences and the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives. You will support individuals with daily activities, community participation, wellbeing goals and personal development while working across mental health, disability support, community care and healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support to individuals in community, residential and healthcare settings
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, personal goals and community participation
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with service users, families and support networks
  • Support individuals living with disabilities, mental health needs and complex care requirements
  • Provide calm and professional assistance during challenging situations and behavioural support needs
  • Promote independence, dignity, wellbeing and inclusion for all clients
  • Encourage clients to achieve personal goals and maintain meaningful lifestyles
  • Follow care plans, workplace procedures and health and safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
  • Support clients across a variety of healthcare and community environments
  • Deliver reliable and person-centred care while maintaining professional standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 6 months' experience as a Community Support Worker, Disability Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Mental Health Assistant or similar role
  • Previous experience supporting people with complex needs, disabilities or mental health requirements is highly regarded
  • Ability to commit to regular shifts and maintain reliable availability
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends when required
  • Strong communication skills with a caring, respectful and professional approach
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations
  • Commitment to providing high-quality person-centred support
  • Ability to meet safe working hour requirements and manage availability responsibly
  • Full New Zealand Driver's Licence with confidence driving service vehicles where required
  • Ability to work across different community, disability, mental health and healthcare settings
